若存这种心，将会招致灭门之灾、摧毁所有福德！
懂因果的人有福
Blessed are those who abide by the karmic law
你想得到什么，就要先把这个给别人。比如，想发财，就要先把钱财给别人，这是布施；想长寿，就要先把生命给别人，这是放生；想开智慧，就要先把智慧给别人，这是法施……总之，不管你对别人做了什么，这些最后都会回到你身上，这就是因果规律。
嫉妒别人，只能害了自己
Jealousy harms only oneself
古大德曾说，人分三种：
According to the sages of the past, there are three kinds of people:
下等者，见别人快乐，心生嫉妒；
Those of lesser capacity are always jealous of others’ happiness.
中等者，自己受苦时，只想自己尽快解脱；
The middling ones are keen to liberate themselves from suffering,
上等者，见他人快乐，自己就快乐，见他人受苦，如自己受苦。
and the superior ones constantly rejoice at other’s happiness and empathize with others’ suffering.
扪心自问，你属于哪一种呢？
Now ask yourself: To which category do you belong?
《迁善录》中记载：
A story was told in Analects on Transforming to Virtues:
宋国的大夫蒋瑗有十个孩子：
During the Song Dynasty, an officer named Jiang Ai had ten sons:
一个驼背，一个跛子，一个肢体萎缩，一个双脚残废，一个疯癫，一个痴呆，一个聋子，一个瞎子，一个哑巴，一个死在监狱中。
one was a hunchback, one was crippled, one had an atrophied body, one had deformed legs, one was a lunatic, one was an idiot, one was deaf, one was blind, one was dumb and one died in prison.
公明子皋问：“你做了什么事，为何祸至于此？”
The elder Zigao (Gongming Zigao) asked, “What have you done that you’re so doomed?”
蒋瑗说：“我平生没有其他过恶，只是喜欢嫉妒。
Jiang Ai replied, “All my life I have not committed any evil other than my predilection for jealousy.
谁胜过我，我就嫉恨他；
I would be filled with malicious envy against those who excelled over me.
谁奉承我，我就喜欢他。
I would favor those who flattered me.
听到别人行善，我就怀疑他的用心；
When I heard of people doing virtuous deeds, I would be suspicious of their intentions.
听到别人造恶，我不经考察就盲目信任。
When I heard that someone had broken the law, I would not bother to check the facts; instead, I blindly believed it.
见别人有所得，就感觉自己失去了什么；
If others gained something, I would feel I had lost something.
见别人有所失，就暗暗高兴，好像自己有所得一样。”
When others lost something, I would gloat secretly as if I had gained something from their loss.”
公明子皋听后，禁不住叹道：“你这种存心，将会招致灭门之灾，恶报又岂止这些啊？”
Hearing the answer, elder Zigao could not help lamenting, “A mindset as base as yours will incur the calamity of losing a whole clan! Your ill fate has not yet met its end!”
如今不少人也像蒋瑗一样，见不得别人好，
Like Jiang Ai, many people nowadays cannot bear to see the good fortune of others.
看到人家拥有财富、受用、美名、地位，心里总是不平衡，
They become upset whenever they see others enjoying wealth, comfort, fame, and prestige.
老想着：“这个人倒霉该多好啊！”
Often they muse, “Woe to this guy!
“哪天他人财两空，被打回原形，那就大快人心了！”
Just wait till the day he loses all of his retinue and possessions and gets knocked down flat. Wouldn’t that be a great satisfaction to all!”
他们表面上笑眯眯的，让人觉得和蔼可亲，但实际上心胸狭窄、口蜜腹剑，内心充满了恶毒之水。
On the surface, they all smile and are cordial with sweet words but underneath the façade, their narrow minds are swamped with virulent poisons.
如此恶意嫉妒别人，实际上是一种愚痴之举。
In fact, to envy others bitterly is really stupid.
其实你想过没有：你再怎么诅咒人家，也无法改变他福报的一丝一毫，
Haven’t you realized that no matter how you curse others, you aren’t able to make a dent in their good fortune?
反而只会让自己在起心动念间，大大损耗积之不易的福德？
While you’re harboring evil intentions, you accomplish nothing but seriously depleting your own hard-earned merit!
莎士比亚说过：“你要留心嫉妒啊，那是一个绿眼的妖魔！”
Shakespeare said, “O, beware, my lord, of jealousy; it is the green-ey’d monster, which doth mock.”
的确，人一旦有了嫉妒心，真的像着了魔一样，很多事情都不会去考虑。
Indeed, to be overcome by jealousy is akin to being possessed by demons; people can’t help but act uncontrollably.
清朝雍正年间有个白泰官，是当时八大武术家之一。
During the Yongzheng reign in the Qing dynasty, there lived one of the eight great martial art masters, Bai Taiguan.
他成亲后因故离家多年，一直浪迹江湖。
After he married, he left home and wandered across the country for many years until one day he decided to return to his own village.
有一次在回乡途中，他恰巧遇到个小孩正对着一块大石头练功，
When he was approaching his hometown, he came across a young boy who was practicing martial arts using a big boulder as a target.
掌到之处，火光四溅。
Bai Taiguan saw the boulder throw off a shower of sparks in response to the boy’s hand maneuvers.
白泰官心想：“我家乡竟有这样的小孩，现在武功就如此了得，长大后肯定超过我。”
Bai Taiguan was very impressed and thought, “Amazing! In my hometown there is a kid with such a high caliber of martial arts. By the time he grows up, he will definitely beat me.”
在强烈嫉妒心的驱使下，他竟一掌把孩子打死了。
Blinded by extreme jealousy, he killed the young boy with a forceful punch.
在断气之前，孩子只说了一句：“我爹爹白泰官一定会找你报仇！”
The boy, just before he died, managed to utter, “My father, Master Bai Taiguan, will surely seek revenge on you!”
白泰官一听，如五雷轰顶，方知杀的是自己儿子，但悔之晚矣。
Bai Taiguan was horrified—he had murdered his own son! However, his bitter wailing and heartbroken repentance was to no avail.
古大德曾说，人分三种：
According to the sages of the past, there are three kinds of people:
下等者，见别人快乐，心生嫉妒；

中等者，自己受苦时，只想自己尽快解脱；
the middling ones are keen to liberate themselves from suffering;
