The Buddhist tradition, the monastic houses, the tantric colleges, and the teachings of the Dharma spread unchallenged throughout Tibet. The sages of India, China, and Nepal returned to their homes greatly satisfied, loaded with the gold and wealth offered in appreciation of their kindness. But the Abbot, the Vajra Master, and Vimalamitra remained in Tibet to turn the wheel of the sutras and tantras. Thus were fulfilled the heartfelt wishes of the pious king. His power and the breadth of his dominion had reached their zenith. His enemies on the four frontiers were subjugated and the evil Bon had waned. And so, when he had realized his every aspiration, down to the very last, he laid the kingly power upon his son, Prince Mune Tsenpo. He was fulfilled in every happiness and bliss, untouched by the slightest pain or illness. And it was thus that the eve of his passing arrived. He spoke some words of counsel to the princes and the queens, his ministers and the court. At midnight he cast flowers of consecration in all the temples and bestowed his blessing. Before dawn he recited the text of the generation stage of his yidam deity and, as day was breaking, in a state of radiant clarity, he dissolved into the heart of noble Manjushri and disappeared.

Now, it came to pass that the crown prince was murdered by one of the queens, who poisoned him with herbs, and in his place the prince Mutri Tsenpo was set upon the throne. It happened also at that time that the queens who were hostile to the Dharma sowed strife and discord between two Dharma communities. But the Lady Tsogyal, with her compassionate skill, brought them together and reconciled them. Such quarrels were then forbidden by the laws.

At that time, the woman Bonmo Tso was living at Hepori. She was of the Inner Bon of the Chokro clan and had known Tsogyal well since childhood. She gave Tsogyal some poisoned nectar to drink. But Tsogyal perceived this and, having drunk it, said:

Kyema!

Heart-friend, listen well.

That was powerful and tasty nectar,

Which my spotless diamond body—

Wonderful indeed!—has changed 

Into a draught of immortality!

The plan you hatched has gone awry

And yet has brought to me much merit.

Do not harbor jealousy against me;

Practice, rather, Buddhism and Bon with equal fervor.

Supplicate your yidam, and your Dharma kindred

View with pure perception.

On the helpless, look with loving kindness,

And be devoted to your lord the Guru.


As she said this, her body was transfigured into shimmering rainbow light, and in each of her pores there was a vajra. Bonmo was overcome with shame and moved away to another country. But because of this, the queens were filled with spite and banished Tsogyal to Tsang.

First she stayed at Kharak Gang, gathering around her a community of three hundred meditators, so that in later days the place was known as Jomo Kharak—Kharak of the Lady. Thirty-nine of these three hundred yogis attained accomplishment and gained miraculous powers. Moreover, of these thirty-nine, twenty were able to benefit beings, and seven even reached the level of Tsogyal herself, their work for the sake of others being thus immeasurable.

佛教传承、寺院中心、续部学院、佛法教导,皆无碍地传播到藏地的每个角落。来自印度、汉地、尼泊尔的圣者们心满意足地回归故里,满载藏民出于感恩而供养的金银财宝等珍物而归。




But the Abbot, the Vajra Master, and Vimalamitra remained in Tibetto turn the wheel of the sutras and tantras. Thus were fulfilled the heartfelt wishes of the pious king. His power and the breadth of his dominion had reached their zenith.


不过,寂护堪布、金刚上师、无垢友尊者则留在藏地,转动经续二部的法轮,如是虔敬之王的由衷心愿得以圆成。国王的权力和统治的范围达到巅峰



His enemies on the four frontiers were subjugated and the evil Bon had waned. And so, when he had realized his every aspiration, down to the very last, he laid the kingly power upon his son, Prince Mune Tsenpo.


四方边境的敌人皆已征服,邪苯亦是衰微不振。当国王看到自己的所有理想都一一实现、毫无遗漏之时,他将王权传给儿子木奈赞普王子。



He was fulfilled in every happiness and bliss, untouched by the slightest pain or illness. And it was thus that the eve of his passing arrived. He spoke some words of counsel to the princes and the queens, his ministers and the court.


国王的心中充满各种喜乐,毫无一丝痛苦,也无疾病侵扰,直到他要走的那一晚。当晚,国王对王子、王妃、大臣、朝众交代一些最后的忠告后,



王妃篡位


At midnight he cast flowers of consecration in all the temples and bestowed his blessing. Before dawn he recited the text of the generation stage of his yidam deity and, as day was breaking, in a state of radiant clarity, he dissolved into the heart of noble Manjushri and disappeared.


于午夜至各寺庙供养献花和给予祝福,接着在黎明之前,国王念诵自己襌修本尊的生起次第仪轨,随后在破晓时分,国王处于澄澈明性之中,消融至圣文殊菩萨的心间,消失无踪。



Now, it came to pass that the crown prince was murdered by one of the queens, who poisoned him   with herbs, and in his place the prince Mutri Tsenpo was set upon the throne. 然而,王储遭到一位王妃以药草毒害,牟赤赞普即取而代之,继承王位。那时又逢反对佛法的妃子们在两个佛法团体之间制造争端使得双方不合,



But the Lady Tsogyal, with her compassionate skill, brought them together and reconciled them. Such quarrels were then forbidden by the laws.


不过,措嘉尊女以慈悲善巧进行调解,使得双方重归旧好。自从这个事件之后,法律就禁止再有此类的争端。



At that time, the woman Bonmo Tso was living at Hepori. She was of the Inner Bon of the Chokro clan and had known Tsogyal well since childhood. She gave Tsogyal some poisoned nectar to drink.


这名女子苯嫫那时正住在哈布尔日山,她属于却洛氏族,是内苯信徒,自幼与措嘉相熟。苯嫫把一些有毒甘露拿给措嘉飮用。

But Tsogyal perceived this and, having drunkit, said:

Kyema!

Heart-friend, listen well.

That was powerful and tasty nectar,

Which my spotless diamond body—

Wonderful indeed!—has changed

不过措嘉识破其计,喝下毒飮之后说:

嗟玛!

知心友人请谛听,

所献甘露具妙力,

吾金刚身无染垢,

诚然神妙已化彼,

成为无死琼浆液!

反为吾增诸功德。

心中莫怀嫉妒意,

等量热忱修佛、苯。

当向本尊勤祈请,

对待法友以净心,

护无依者以慈心,

虔心献己予师尊。

措嘉说话时,全身化为闪烁的虹彩光芒,每个毛孔里都有一支金刚杵。苯嫫羞愧不已,迁至他国。但王妃们却因此对措嘉心生怨恨,将尊女流放到臧省。

措嘉首先住在喀惹•岗,她周围聚集了三百位禅修者,因此该处日后称作「久嫫•喀惹」,意即「尊女之喀惹」。这三百位瑜伽士中有三十九名证得成就,获得神通。



Moreover, of these thirty-nine, twenty were able to benefit beings, and seven even reached the level of Tsogyal herself, their work for the sake of others being thus immeasurable.

   

此外,这三十九位当中有二十位能行使利益众生之事,甚至有七位证得与措嘉本人相同的道位,他们的利生事业因而能无量无边。
