不是在哪儿听都一样

SECTION 14. It’s Not the Same to Listen in Different Places

有人会想：“在这里也是听，也能听得到，在哪里听都是一样的。”

Some people may think: “Listening there or here is the same. As long as I can hear the teaching at home, isn’t it the same?”

其实并不一样。

As a matter of fact, it is not the same.

就像《本生传》中所说：“坐于极下地，当具温顺仪，以喜眼视师，如饮语甘露，当专心闻法……”

As it is said in The Jataka Stories: “Sitting at the lowest place in a meek manner, looking at the teacher with joyful eyes, and listening to the teaching attentively is like drinking the ambrosia of speech.”

自己要坐在比上师低的位置上，严加守护身语意的行为，微笑着注视上师的尊颜。

One should sit in a position lower than the teacher, carefully and strictly watching one’s acts of body, speech, and mind, and with smile, direct one’s gaze to the face of the teacher.

当然，像我这样的人，你们笑也好、不笑也好，我都看不清楚。

Of course, for people like me, smiling or not, the eyes cannot focus clearly.

不过话说回来，如果你们真的对上师有欢喜心，表里如一怀着欢喜心和信心，面带微笑地目视上师，其福德也真的是不可思议。

But if the teacher does make you joyful and you look at him with an outer smile and with inner joy and faith, the merit is indeed inconceivable.

甚至哪怕只来见上师一面，这种福德也是无量的。

And in this manner, even if you meet the teacher only once, the merit is immeasurable already.

其实，并不是只要在某个地方能听到，就不需要来经堂了。

Actually, because you can hear the teaching somewhere else does not mean that you do not need to come to the assembly hall.

像阿弥陀佛有无数眷属，经中说：“此大地之微尘可数，而阿弥陀佛首批眷属之数目极难数。”

Buddha Amitābha has countless disciples, which is stated in a sutra in this way: “Even if the number of dust particles on Earth were countable, it would be extremely hard to count the first set of disciples of Buddha Amitābha.”

而且那些眷属全部有五眼六通，完全能够随意坐在某个地方听法，但他们却都前往阿弥陀佛座前，面见怙主无量光而听法。

Moreover, even though each disciple can listen to Buddha Amitābha’s teaching anywhere clairvoyantly, they all choose to come to listen to the teaching of the Buddha of Infinite Light directly.

同样，我等本师慈悲的释迦佛每次转法轮时，他的法音在无量世界以外也能听得到，

Similarly, every time our kind guru Buddha Shākyamuni turned the Dharma wheel, his Dharma sound could be heard beyond countless worlds,

但只听到声音并不够，其他佛陀也会派菩萨到释迦佛座前问安、听法。

but since it is not enough to just hear the sound, other buddhas would send bodhisattvas to visit Buddha Shākyamuni to greet him and listen to his teachings on the scene.

所以，大家需要亲自前来听法。

Therefore you should come to where the teacher is teaching to listen to the discourse.

如果真正是老年人，尤其确实是身患重疾的老年居士，我们一般开许听同播。

It is generally accepted for very old people, especially old laypeople with severe illnesses, to listen to a live radio broadcast of a teaching.

但其功德大小，有非常悬殊的差别。

However, as for merit, there is enormous disparity between coming to the teacher and merely listening on the radio.

你们在这里哪怕只呆六个月，每一次听法过程也要善始善终。

Even if you could stay at Larung Gar for only six months, make sure that every single class you attend is well started and well ended.

看知不知道开头要发菩提心？

Examine yourself in this way: Have you generated bodhichitta at the beginning?

知不知道最后要随文思义念诵《普贤行愿品》来回向？

Have you recited the King of Prayers while reflecting on its meaning as dedication at the end?

让自己不用再漂泊轮回的方便法，仅依靠这一点也能办到。

Just by relying on this simple skillful means, you can free yourself from further roaming in cyclic existence.
