At daybreak, after the celebration of a ganachakra, I, Gyalwa Changchub, and the eleven faithful children and others, together with all the different races of humans, dakas, dakinis, rakshasas, gods, and spirits, made devout prostration to the Lady. 


破晓时分,措嘉佛母传一轮荟供完成后,我,嘉华•蒋秋,和十一名忠实子弟与其他人等,连同各族的人类、勇父、空行、罗剎、天人、鬼灵等众,一起向尊女虔诚顶礼。





With tears of grief in our eyes, we made this request:

Kyema Kyehu, Dakini of Wisdom,

Guru of us all, O mistress Yeshe Tsogyal,

Only mother of Tibet, departing in the sky,

What shall we now do, bereaved and toothless babes?

Guard Tibet, we pray, both now and evermore!


我们眼含悲伤的泪水,做出如下请求:

嗟玛,嗟呼,

哀哉智慧空行母,

措嘉尊女我等师,

藏唯一母由天离,

无牙孤婴该如何?

祈尊今后永护藏!



If now you go, if now you really cannot stay,

We beg you, tell us and describe

The fortunes, good and bad, of Dharma in Tibet.

Tell us who will be the holders of the teaching;

Tell us how will come the evil demon-wraiths, the workers of destruction,

And what might be the means to drive them out,

The causal sequences by which they might be parried.

And indeed reveal to us the advent of your emanations.

What will be their names, their place, their work and doctrine?

Do not hide, or merely hint, but tell us openly.

Omniscient Queen, we pray you, speak to us!

谁为教法持有者;

障难邪魂如何来,

有何方法驱除之,

如何能其缘起。

Your three biographies, moreover, lengthy or abridged,

The two transmissions, earlier and later—

Mother and son—passed down from mouth to ear,

And especially the teachings of the Khandro Trulkui Nyingtik—

Should they be passed down by word of mouth,

Or hidden and concealed as Treasures?

To whom shall they be given, to whom so fortunate?

If as Treasures they should be concealed, where should they be hidden?

Who will come to show them forth, and what will then befall?

Please be generous with precise instructions and prophetic indications.

当授何人具福者?

What shall we do now, the kindred gathered here?

In whom can we confide and place our trust?

Who will give us counsel at the moment of our dying,

Who will drive away all hindrances?

Kyema Kyehu! look on us with swift compassion!


聚此我等眷如何?

谁能信任可仰赖?

临终建言何人予?

驱除障难何人为?

嗟玛,嗟呼!

请速慈悲视吾等!




The full account of Yeshe Tsogyal's answer is to be found in the "Extensive Prophetic Indications." But this, in brief, is what she said:

Emaho!

Tibetans, gods, and humankind, pay heed to me!

Listen to me well, my faithful ones, endowed with virtuous karma!

Now that I, your mother, the enlightened Yeshe Tsogyal,

Have nursed Tibet two hundred and eleven years,

The Dharma-guarding king Tri Ralpachen,

An emanation of great Vajrapani,

Will uphold the sutras and the tantras to the heights of heaven.

And yet his younger brother Lang, 

A demon's wraith,

Will plot with evil ministers

And, his elder kinsman slain,

Will seize the throne.

藏地人天众谛听!

善业具信者谛听!

汝母开悟之措嘉,

利藏地逾两百载。

将与恶臣共密谋,

弒男长亲且篡位。




Places of religion, seats of sutra-learning,

He will ruin, blotting out their names.

Based upon the ten nonvirtues

And sins that bring immediate perdition,

He will frame laws against the Buddha dharma.

The greatest of the monkhood will be slain,

The lesser will be exiled and the least enslaved.

And yet the vajra kindred of the Secret Mantra,

Householders, will keep alive the teachings.

Lhasa, yes, and Samye will decline and fall to ruin.

   

经教法座修道处,

尽皆摧毁名不存,

十恶五逆罪为由,

彼将立法反佛法。

至诚僧众遭屠害,

次等流放下为奴,

然而密乘金刚眷,

在家众系正法存,

拉萨桑耶沦废墟。

 



Yet Pelgyi Dorje will recall the prophecy

And slay the royal fiend, and flee to Mekham.

Mar and Yo will trim the flame of the Vinaya teachings; 

At Langthang Drolma ten monks will assemble,

And to every part of U and Tsang,

The bright lamp of the Doctrine will be carried,

To spread again throughout Tibet's religious land.

And thanks to able monks and scholars,

The earth will be encompassed by the Secret Mantra.


佩吉多杰忆授记,

将弑王逃梅康,

玛尔、佑复律藏焰,

朗塘卓玛十僧集,

其后卫、藏一切处,

教法明灯将得传,

法教再兴遍雪域。

缘于具力学者、僧,

将以密乘围大地。




授记直至人寿五十


But aberrant practices and errors will arise,

And so the emanation of the Speech of Orgyen,

Shantarakshita's rebirth, by name Atisha

Will widely propagate the sutras and the tantras.

And at that time, I, Tsogyal, then called Jayakara,

Will be the close disciple of the translator in the clan of Drom.

aberrant: 违反常规的; 反常的; 异常的;

   

然起歧途修道谬,

故此邬金语化身,

寂护转世阿底峡

广传经续二部法;

措嘉化迦雅喀惹,

彼时种氏译师徒。




When the prime of human life is seventy years,

Religion will increase and spread.

The sutras and the tantras will arise and fill the world with light.

Afterward, when sixty marks the peak of human life,

An emanation of the Dharma king, named Sa, will hold the Doctrine.

The royal line will fail, and Horpas will become religious patrons.


人寿盛年七十时,

法教得增盛传扬,

经续广兴耀全世。

人寿盛年六十时,

化身名萨护法王,

持举法教王脉衰,

霍尔巴成护法者。




An emanation of the Body of the Lotus-Born, named Drogmi,

Will arise to propagate the Path and Fruit,

Establishing the learning of the sutras and the tantras.

His coming will be like the advent of the peerless Shakyamuni.

   

卓弥莲师身化身,

起而宣扬道果法,

建立经续二学处,

释佛临无人及。




Later, when the Sakya line is scattered into fragments,

When age will start at fifty, Phagmo's teaching will arise;

The ancient system of religious law will be restored, just as today.


释迦脉统崩散后,

五十岁始衰老时,

帕嫫教法将兴起,

善律法传复如今。
