As soon as the song was over, all the men fell asleep as if besotted by their beer. And swifter than the wind, over hill and dale, Tsogyal fled far away to the south. Next morning there was uproar in the camp. The men ransacked the whole of Kharchen but Tsogyal was nowhere to be found. They looked everywhere but in the end they had to return to Kharchu emptyhanded.
Now it was at that time that the Master Padmasambhava himself had made his way, in the twinkling of an eye, to SamyeChimphu. The evil ministers discovered this and went there in a body, intending to put him to death. But what they found there was a blazing mass of fire, and they were filled with fear.Returning to the king, they said:
Kyebo!
Great King, Son of gods and Lord of men,
That foreign vagabond we brought to justice
And drove away to Thokar,
Has gone instead to Chimphu
And is living there!
Shall we slay him
Or once more drive him into exile?
