人如果怀有嗔心，则始终得不到自在，

If we harbor anger, we can never be free.

连一个快乐的机会也没有，别人更不会恭敬自己。

We will not even have any hope of finding happiness or the respect of others.

实际上，嗔恨是烧毁自心的猛火，

In fact, anger is an inferno that consumes our mind.

一刹那能将所有善根摧毁无余，

In a single moment, it can completely destroy all of our roots of virtue.

在这个世上，再也找不到比嗔心更严重的过患了。

In this world, there is no fault more grave than anger.

若想消除嗔心，我们就要想方设法修持自他平等，

If we wish to eradicate anger, we must do everything possible to cultivate the practice of equality between others and ourselves.

要懂得：自己喜欢快乐，别人也是；

We need to understand that just as weprefer happiness, so do others;

自己不愿受苦，别人也是。

just as we do not wish to suffer, neither do they.

如此推己及人，就会知道别人在伤害自己时，也是身不由己，有他的烦恼缠缚，

By extrapolating from our own experience,we will know that when others hurt us, they are also helpless and bound byafflictions.

如是便不至于斤斤计较，甚至还祝愿他尽早获得安乐。

Understanding this, we will no longer quibble over trivial matters and can even wish them peace and happiness.

这种自他平等的慈悲心，若能在内外心行中时时体现，

If this compassionate mind that sees the equality of oneself and others can manifest often in a person’s inner thoughts and outer actions,

并对任何众生都可以生起，

and can be generated toward any being,

此人就像如意宝一样，能对众生作广大的饶益。

then this person is like a wish-fulfilling jewel that nourishes and benefits all beings.

不仅如此，他的内心也会盈满欢喜，

Not only this, she will also be filled with joy,

愿望自然成办，

her wishes will naturally be fulfilled,

现在和将来的一切都顺利圆满，

everything in her present and future will go smoothly,

功德如上弦月一样日益增上，不会衰损……

and her merit will grow daily like the waxing moon and never dwindle.

毫无疑问，这种人正是一切世间的庄严。

Without a shadow of doubt, this kind of person is everything that is dignified in the world.
