At that time,   the Guru and his Consort were residing at Onphu Taktsang and so the pious   king dispatched the great translator Drenpa Namkha and three attendants to   invite them.

那个时候，莲师和佛母正住在昂府虎穴，因此虔敬之王派遣大译师坚帕•南卡和三名侍者前往迎请。

Black   Eagle-Flight, the Precious Teacher's great steed, was also sent, while the   others in the party were each provided with a mount and a pack animal.

Steed：马，坐骑

珍贵上师的骏马「飞跃黑鹰」也随队送去，使节队伍则各自配了一匹坐骑和驮兽。

Back they sped   to Samye. But the Guru said that they should go for a while to Lhasa, and   there he performed seven actions propitious for the establishment of the   doctrine of the Secret Mantra. It was then also that Shakyamuni spoke to him   and gave predictions.

一行人疾速返回桑耶，但上师说他们要绕道拉萨停留一下。上师在拉萨做了七件事以作为建立密乘法教的吉祥缘起，也就是在那时，释迦牟尼佛亲口给予上师某些授记。

They continued   on to Samye and at Surkhar, in front of a stone stupa, were met by a   reception party. At Samye, on the plain of Yombok, a great throne was set up,   and the Precious Teacher took his seat.

他们一行人继续往赴桑耶，在苏卡的一座石塔前，受到一支欢迎队伍的迎接。抵达桑耶时，人们在雍博平原上搭建起一个巨大的法座，珍贵上师落座其上。

The twenty-one   learned men of India and the Tibetan translators made obeisance to him,   whereupon the great master Vimalamitra and the scholars exclaimed: "How wonderful   to have met the Guru of Orgyen, Padmasambhava himself in person! Alala! This   is indeed through merits gathered over many eons of time!"

Obeisance [oʊˈbisns]：敬礼；（尤指）鞠躬 An obeisance is a   physical gesture, especially a bow, that you make in order to show your   respect for someone or something.

二十一位印度学者和藏地译师们向上师敬礼，伟大的无垢友上师与学者们齐声赞叹道：「能亲见鄢金上师莲花生大士本人，是何等的奇妙！啊啦啦！这肯定是多劫以来累积福德的果报！」

And they gazed   upon the Guru's countenance, their faces wet with tears. Great indeed was the   joy of Guru Rinpoche and Vimalamitra at their meeting, like a father   reuniting with his son. Hand in hand they went up into the main temple.

他们凝视上师的面容，脸上皆挂着泪水。莲师和无垢友尊者的会面尤其是伴随着极大的喜悦，犹如父子圑圆一般，他们手牵手一起走上庙堂的主殿。

The pious king,   the Abbot, and the court made prostrations to them in the upper hall of the   temple before repairing to the topmost chamber, dedicated to Vairochana, where they   took their seats.

repair to：到…去（特指成群地去或经常去）

虔诚之王、堪布、朝臣们在大殿上厅向他们顶礼，随后齐赴最高的佛堂—大日如来佛堂，莲师和无垢友尊者便在那里落座。

The Guru   declared that for the Dharma to be propagated, a threefold consecration   should be performed and also three fire offerings for the subjugation of   demonic forces.

莲师宣布，为了让佛法广为流传，应该举行三重的开光仪式.，而为了平息邪魔障力，应该举行三次火供。

The consecration   was duly carried out, but, swept away in a moment of distraction, the king   failed to request the last fire-offering and therefore the Guru did not   perform it.

开光仪式依言进行，但国王由于一时分心，并未请求最后一次的火供，因此莲师亦未举行这场火供。

"Thus will   it come to pass," the Guru foretold, "that though the Dharma will   indeed increase, evil will grow and spread with equal pace."

「因此将会发生的是， 」上师预言说: 「虽然佛法确然会兴盛，但是邪魔也将以同样的速度增长传播。」

Now, as the   final month of the Tibetan year came around, the people, Buddhists and Bonpos   both, gathered at Samye for the rites of homage to the religious king.

当藏历的最后一个月来临时，百姓们不分佛教徒或是苯教徒都聚集在桑耶，以向虔敬之王进行礼敬仪式。

Five Bon   scholars were invited to Samye. They did not recognize or comprehend the   representations of the Buddha's Body, Speech, and Mind.

有五名苯教学者受邀至桑耶，他们既未认出、也不理解佛陀身语意的象征物，

The doctrine of   the ten virtuous deeds   was foreign to their understanding, and they neither made prostrations nor   performed circumambulation.

更从未曾听闻十善行的教法，故而既没有行大礼拜、也没有做绕行，

They sat down in   a row, leaning back against the images. And the king and most of his   ministers were grieved.

只是向后靠着佛像坐成一列。国王和多数大臣都感到痛心。
