预防老年痴呆的好办法

一丝善念,胜过万千灵丹妙药

A spark of kind thought beats thousands of wonder pills


内心产生的任何善念,哪怕只是一瞬间,都是佛陀的加持所致,这样的善念来之不易。

The arising of any virtuous thought, even for just an instant, is the Buddhas grace and not to be taken for granted.



不管在什么情况下,我们最好能经常发善愿、行善法,让心住于善念中。

Under any circumstances, we should always make virtuous aspirations, do good deeds and abide in positive thinking.

 

这种善念具有强大的力量,

To be immersed in virtue has tre­mendous power.

 

且不说别的,单单对健康也非常有利。

Leaving other benefits aside, its favorable effect on physical health alone is quite impressive.

 

据日本新闻界报道,山口县一个老人院的护士们发现,抄写佛经可以防治老年痴呆。

A Japanese newspaper reported a finding by the nurses at a senior home in Yamaguchi Prefecture: The activity of copying Buddhist scriptures seemed to prevent Alzheimer’s disease.

 

后来,日本的一位大学教授对一千个老人进行了测试,

Later, a college professor in Japan corroborated this finding in his study of one thousand senior citizens.

 

结果表明:抄写佛经可以激发老人大脑的活力,对老人的健康很有帮助。

His results showed that copying Buddhist scriptures stimulated activity in the aging brain and benefited the health of aging bodies.

 

日本是个老龄化严重的社会,这项研究成果公布后,引起了各界重视,许多人对此积极宣传、推广。

As Japan is a country with a high proportion of older citizens, this report immediately caught the attention of people from different sectors, who sub­sequently promoted it avidly.

 

其实,抄经就是一种让心安住于善念的办法,

In fact, copying or writing sacred scriptures is a means to let the mind abide in virtue.

 

所以这项研究也证明了善念的力量。

Thus, this research proves the power of positive thinking.



我也发现过这种现象,许多高僧大德和念佛的老人,非常高龄了神智都很清晰,身体也很健康。

I have also noticed that many eminent monks and older folks who practiced Buddhas Name Recitation usually maintained clear minds and good health at advanced ages.


因此,大家若想健康长寿,一定要经常处于善念中。

Hence, if we want to be physically fit and live a long life, we ought to direct our mind toward virtuous thoughts.

 

在藏地,佛教徒互相问候时会说:“愿你往生极乐世界。”

In Tibet, the daily greeting among Buddhists usually goes: “May you be re­born in the Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.”

 

在汉地,佛教徒口口声声也是“阿弥陀佛”,甚至打电话都讲:“阿弥陀佛,你在哪里?”“阿弥陀佛,你身体好吗?”

In Han China, “Amituofo” (Buddha Amitabha) is constantly at the lips of Buddhists, who usually answer a phone call by saying “Amituofo, how are you?” and end with “Amituofo! See you!”

 

传法时会先说:“阿弥陀佛,大家好!”传法结束后是:“谢谢大家,阿弥陀佛!”

Dharma teachers, as well, typically start a teaching with “Amituofo! Greetings to everybody,” and close with “Thank you all. Amituofo!”

 

这些祝福、问候的缘起非常吉祥,也是内心有信心的表现。

Such salutations carry with them auspicious significance and reflect a deeply ingrained faith.

 

如果你行住坐卧都想到阿弥陀佛,那随时随地可以得到佛的加持,

If you invoke Buddha Amitabha constantly, you’ll receive his blessings in all places and at all times


不但身体会健康安泰,甚至能获得超胜功德,往生极乐世界也指日可待。

—not just for your present wellbeing but also for your ultimate wish that, in the not too distant future, you’ll reach his Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss!
